Theodore Parker has been called one of the central prophets of Unitarianism. His sermon “The Transient and Permanent in Christianity” was radical in its time. He was also a committed abolitionist who was reported to have written sermons with a pistol on his desk in case he had to defend the fugitive slaves he housed. He’s a 19th century hero. We’ll explore what his life and messages can mean for us in the 21st century.
