Join Gedney Barclay from Vashon HouseHold on Sunday May 1 at Lewis Hall for a conversation about Vashon’s current affordable housing crisis: what we’re currently doing, and what else we can do as a community to tackle the issue. The conversation will begin with a brief presentation from VHH on our current projects and history, and then switch into a facilitated discussion to solicit questions, ideas, and aspirations from the congregation.
For the past 30 years, Vashon HouseHold has been providing affordable housing for our island through a combination of new construction projects, community land trust models, and refurbished rentals. We’re proud to be able to say we currently house over 160 island residents. This meeting is part of a larger year-long listening tour initiated by the board to have more consistent, open conversation with islanders, as we work to meet the rising demand for affordable housing for our island.”
